Our nature is so beautiful that for every swinging mood you will find a place to visit which can rejuvenate the life. India is known for its diverse yet united culture of which is somewhere interlinked and has its own charm of exploring. The four pilgrimage circuit of India including the little ones circuited near Himalayas was assorted by reformer and philosophers Adi Shankracharya. These can be the places which probably can be visited as per the trekking or rejuvenation or even consecration point of view.
Likewise if a person wishes to have a little peace in this fast moving world one of the best places to visit could be Himalayas. This not only will be beneficial for rumination but exploring the same could make us understand the multi colour culture which this fabulous place owns. If you are traditional then you can visit the pilgrimages or as popularly called by the Indians as The little Char (four) dhams which hold an enigmatic beguile and a spirituality that makes the devotees spell bound and are situated in the north western region of Uttar Pradesh. Lets share few thoughts about these wonderful pilgrimages by which we can proudly keep are culture and country live in our own hearts. Following are the pilgrimages:
Badrinath: Dedicated to lord Vishnu built in the form of cone with a small cupola of bull and spire. The dham is guarded by the two mountains Nar and Narayan with the towering Neelkanth peak providing a magnificent back drop facing the temple at the back of Alaknanda River there is a hot water spring known as Tapta Kund. As the spot was once covered by the forest of berries (badri) that is why is called as badrinath.
o Gangotrii: source of Ganga River and seat of goddess Ganga/ Ganges. Ritual duties are performed by the Semwal family of priests. The aarti ceremony is the most poignant part which lures people because of its recital on the banks of the river.
o Yamnotri: Source of Yamuna River and seat of goddess Yamuna. The temple is six km from hanuman chhatti. Uniqueness of the site includes hot springs where the raw rice is cooked and served as Prasad. The chaste dham is served by the uniyal families of priests.
o Kedarnath: Lord Shiva here enjoys the sacrosanct place as one of the twelve jyotirlings (linga of light). The dham is most remote and flanked with breath taking snow capped peaks.
Puri: or Jagannath Puri situated in the city of Orissa was built in late eleventh century. It is the only shrine in India where goddess Radha who is also referred to as Sati, Parvati, Durga, and Shakti abode here with Lord Krishna. The temple is also famous for the annual rath yatra or the festival of chariots when deities’ Balabhadra, Subhadra and Jagannath are brought out of the temple and placed in chariot procession which happens in the month of July.
Rameshwaram: the holy place is situated in the Ramanthpuram district of Tamil Nadu. It is located in the Gulf of Mannar at the tip of Indian peninsula. It is the place from where Lord Rama built a bridge from Ram setu or Adam’s bridge across the sea to Sri Lanka to rescue his consort Sita.
Dwarka: The city located in the Jamnagar district of Gujarat. The place enjoys the sacredness because of the five storey Dwarkadhish temple built by the grandson, Sambha of Lord Krishna by limestone and sand. The temple is built in a manner that it has entry named as swarga dwar and exit called as moksha dwar. From the temple you can view a beautiful site seen of confederacy of river Gomati into the sea. You can find may shrines of Vasudev, Devaki, Balrama and Revati, Rukmani, Subhadra, Jambavati, Satyabhama.
